Meet The Founder
Hi, I’m Loni Itah.
You’ll get compassion here — and the truth.
I’m not the kind of therapist who just nods and listens. I’ll challenge you, swear sometimes, and use self-disclosure when it helps you feel less alone. Therapy with me is real, active, structured, and collaborative — built to help you face the fears that have been quietly running your life.
I’m Loni Itah, a Licensed Professional Counselor and OCD specialist based in Austin, Texas. I founded Resilience Room Counseling to offer something that’s genuinely hard to find: a private practice where OCD is the primary focus — not one service on a long menu.
I work with teens (15+) and adults experiencing OCD in all its forms — intrusive thoughts, compulsions, reassurance-seeking, avoidance, and the doubt that never fully resolves no matter how hard you try to think your way out. That includes ROCD, harm OCD, scrupulosity, contamination OCD, hit-and-run OCD, Pure O presentations, and real-event OCD, among others.
Treatment is built around Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — the approaches with the strongest evidence base for OCD and anxiety. I completed the IOCDF Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) and have been treating OCD exclusively since opening this practice. Sessions are available in person at our Austin office in West Lake Hills, and via telehealth across TX, IL, NV, WA, CO and FL.
My Approach
My clinical philosophy is simple: the goal of OCD treatment isn’t to eliminate anxiety — it’s to build your capacity to tolerate uncertainty so that OCD loses its grip on your decisions, your relationships, and your life.
Most clients come to me after years of therapy that felt supportive but didn’t move the needle. That’s not a failure on their part. OCD doesn’t respond to general talk therapy the way it responds to structured, exposure-based work. ERP done well is uncomfortable, collaborative, and — when you stick with it — genuinely life-changing.
I bring directness, humor, and clinical accountability into the room. You’ll know what we’re working on and why. You’ll get honest feedback. And you’ll be asked to do the work between sessions, because that’s where the real change happens.
Expect:
Structure, clarity, and honest feedback
Tools rooted in science, not trends
A space where humor and real talk are welcome
Accountability to do the work that actually changes things

Why Work With an OCD Specialist?
Why OCD Specialization Matters
OCD is one of the most misunderstood and misdiagnosed conditions in mental health. Many therapists treat it as a variant of generalized anxiety — which means clients spend months or years in supportive therapy that provides comfort but doesn’t interrupt the OCD cycle.
Effective OCD treatment requires specific training in ERP and a willingness to sit with a client’s distress without rushing to reassure. It requires knowing when to push and when to slow down. It requires familiarity with the full range of OCD presentations — including the subtypes that don’t look like “classic” OCD from the outside.
At Resilience Room Counseling, OCD isn’t one thing I treat among many. It’s the core of my clinical work. If you’re looking for an OCD therapist in Austin who understands what you’re dealing with — and has the training to actually help — I’d like to talk.
